News - the Vashti Updates!

September 2007

Hello friends!

Hope you're all well and happy!

Things are all good with me. I've been invited for an interview and to play a couple of songs on Capital FM tomorrow - pretty cool! It's not going out live but I'll try and let you know when it is on.

Other than that, I have been recording a new E.P with my lovely and talented friend Roy Dodds who's laid down some great percussion, and also joining us is the very cool Tom Fry who's an excellent double bass player (he also plays with my brother Tom.)
It will be ready for the tour and I may put a track or two up here for your ears when it's done!

Hello friends!

Ready for the next installment. The Vashti up-date.

Firstly I hope that you're all well and happy and have been enjoying the sporadic sunshine (doesn't it put a spring in your step!)

I am lucky enough to be down in Cornwall at the moment where, so far, the weather has been gorgeous. I've been jumping around in the sea, catching some sun, reading and pretending to be a crab (a must when on the beach!) I did a gig last Thursday (courtesy of my very good friend, Jamie Lawson who is one of my favourite singer/ songwriters) in St Merryn which was good fun and I have another in Heleston on Thursday for any of you down here - come and join me for a pint!

A couple of weeks ago I was up in Manchester where I supported my brother Tom at The Glee Club. The promoter, Marcus, and sound man, John, were unbelievably friendly and made sound check and set up a very relaxing experience (usually a quite stressful experience) The audience were great too - as quiet as mice and then happily sang along when asked. Thanks to all of you have sent me lovely comments since then!

Yesterday I had a call from brother Tom to confirm that I will be supporting him on tour in October!! This is great news for me! It's an opportunity for me to meet more of you people in REAL life and for you to see me and my bro live! Have a look at the dates to see if we're coming to a town near you! I would love a few of you in the audience to balance out the die hard Tom fans! (Being a little sister can at times can be most annoying but mostly very good!)

I think that's about all for now.

Love Vashti
xx

July 2007

Hello Hello !!

I dont' know if anyone ever actually reads these but if you do, let me know!!

So, I am going to rant.......

A few weeks ago I quit my job (well one of my jobs - the one I wasn't so keen on.) Answering the phone at a hairdressers actually. Lovely people, great hairdressers. but the boredom set in for me!

So now I am free as a bird and this is what I will be doing.

1. BUSKING - I did it before and I'm doing it again! Down on the Underground. It's great, all very organised and straight-forward. Some days are better than others as you can probably imagine, but I've had several very heart-waming moments singing to strangers that stop, smile, maybe say hello when I've finished a song, maybe give me some money - maybe not, maybe have a go at joining in, maybe do a little dance, maybe declare their love to the partner they're walking hand in hand with. The best are always the children! Anyway, if you want I can let you know when I'm playing and you can pop along and see me there if it's convinient!! That would be GREAT!!

2. HAND MADE ALBUMS - by me. I've made a number of these already which have been sent to myspace freinds around the UK and over to Corsicca/ France. You tell me any songs you particullaly like of mine, I put them on a C.D along with some others you won't have heard before, I make the packaging, I colour in, I write whatever I'm in the mood to write and I send it to you. It lands on your doorstep one morning when you least expect it and you're beginning to wonder what life is all about - and then you know! It's about nice being nice, giving and receiving. And you smile (and then maybe you'll cry when you put my music on cos some of it's rather melancholy!) LOVELY!! (to hear more of my music go to www.myspace.com/vashtiannamusic) LOVELY JUBLEY!!!

3. HOUSE GIGS - If you really like my music but can't get to gigs or just want to do something special - I bring my guitar and sit in your living room or in your garden and sing to you, your friends and family. If you have a piano I'll play that too. You can sing along if you like aswell. SUPER!

So that's it! Oh- and you can also catch me singing backing vocals with my horribly talented and adored older brother Tom Baxter. And if you go to see him you may well see my other horribly talented and adored brother too - Charlie Winston. (I have another brother who's not horibly talented.... well not publicly ..... but he is a VERY adored father and husband!)

Please come and say hello, tell me someting interesting like what you had for breakfast or how many books are in your bedroom or whether you prefer potatoes to pasta. I don't know? Make me smile. Make my day!

I look forward to you!!

Love from

Vashti x
